iKKO MindOne at IFA 2026: A Card-Sized AI Smartphone with Android and a Dedicated AI OS

Sep 18, 2026

-- At IFA 2026, held at Messe Berlin, a clear trend emerged across consumer electronics: AI is expanding beyond cloud software into an increasingly diverse range of hardware devices.

From AI glasses and dedicated audio recorders to other portable devices, many brands at the show were exploring the same question. As smartphone innovation slows and replacement cycles lengthen, what could become the next major category of personal hardware?

At Booth H25-169 in Hall 25, iKKO offered an unconventional answer with its updated MindOne pocket AI phone and ActiveBuds II. Among flagship smartphones with screens frequently measuring 6.7 inches or more, MindOne’s nearly square 86 × 72 mm body stood out, drawing the attention of investors, distributors and technology journalists.

Rather than competing directly with increasingly large flagship smartphones, iKKO is positioning MindOne around a different idea: a smaller personal device designed for quick, frequent tasks and everyday mobility.

Finding Room for Differentiation in a Mature Market

For years, major smartphone manufacturers have competed through larger screens, additional cameras and increasingly powerful specifications. The result has been a market of increasingly similar products and fewer compelling reasons for consumers to upgrade. For smaller brands, competing directly against the extensive portfolios of established manufacturers is a difficult proposition.

MindOne takes a different route, focusing on brief, frequent tasks that call for an immediate response. Measuring 86 × 72 × 8.9 mm, it is positioned as a personal digital device that can be worn or carried easily. Its compact dimensions support portability and use with one hand, reflecting its focus on brief interactions.

The same emphasis on compact design extends to its camera. MindOne features a single 50MP Sony camera that can flip 180 degrees, reducing the space and components required for separate front and rear cameras while providing consistent imaging capabilities in both directions. Its adjustable positioning also adds flexibility for vlogging and shooting from different angles.

By prioritizing specific uses over a large screen designed for every task, MindOne establishes a distinctive hardware identity and creates room for premium positioning.

Android 15 and AI OS: Extending the Business Beyond Hardware

MindOne’s business proposition extends beyond selling a device. Its combination of Android and iKKO AI OS connects an established mobile app ecosystem with a dedicated environment for AI tools and services.

Users can switch between the two by pressing and holding the physical button at the upper left of the device. Android provides access to familiar mobile apps, reducing the adjustment required when adopting a new device. Alongside it, iKKO AI OS brings together productivity tools including AI Chat for answering questions whenever needed, AI Notes for transcription and summaries, AI Translation for live interpretation across languages, AI Study for assistance with questions captured in images, and AI Podcast for creating personalized podcast content.

An AI OS update released in late August added further capabilities, including support for custom AI models. By creating a dedicated interface for these tools, iKKO connects its hardware offering with an AI software and services ecosystem, opening opportunities for subscriptions and ongoing services.

Connectivity adds another layer to MindOne’s hardware and services ecosystem. Alongside standard Nano SIM support, the device includes vSIM for mobile data and NovaLink for supported AI tools in iKKO AI OS.

Nano SIM handles regular calls, text messages and cellular data through a supported carrier. For users who need mobile data without a local physical SIM, vSIM is available in more than 220 countries and regions and can provide connectivity for Android apps such as browsers, messaging services and social platforms.

NovaLink is built for a different purpose. Available in more than 60 countries and regions, it provides connectivity for supported AI tools in iKKO AI OS, including AI Chat, AI Translation, AI Notes, AI Study and AI Podcast. These tools can therefore remain accessible even when a local Wi-Fi connection is not available.

Together, these options give MindOne different ways to stay connected depending on the task: conventional mobile service through Nano SIM, Android mobile data through vSIM, and connectivity for supported AI tools through NovaLink.

From Kickstarter to IFA: From Early Validation to Global Distribution

An unconventional hardware design ultimately has to demonstrate that a market exists for it. Before appearing at IFA, MindOne had already attracted early support overseas. Its 2025 Kickstarter campaign secured more than 3,400 backers and raised over $1.5 million.

The campaign helped move MindOne from a concept toward volume production. It also demonstrated interest among technology enthusiasts, business travelers and digital nomads in compact AI devices built around practical tasks. Even in a market dominated by large smartphones, some consumers remain willing to pay for products that are smaller, easier to carry and more distinctive.

If Kickstarter provided an initial proof of concept among consumers, IFA 2026 represented a step toward broader commercial distribution. At the Berlin exhibition, distributors, mobile operators and technology buyers from Europe, North America and the Middle East could assess the device directly. They could examine its feel in the hand, try the 180-degree flip camera and experience switching between Android and iKKO AI OS.

For a product whose appeal depends heavily on physical design, these demonstrations gave prospective partners information that images and specifications cannot fully convey. The direct access at IFA helped shorten the evaluation process for premium retailers and mobile operators considering the device for their distribution channels.

A Broader Market for Personal AI Hardware

IFA 2026 highlighted an increasingly visible hardware trend: AI interaction does not have to be confined to a smartphone screen measuring 6.7 inches.

From smart glasses to pocket AI phones such as MindOne, personal technology is spreading across a wider range of devices. This creates opportunities for products designed around particular needs, even within a mature consumer electronics market.

MindOne is positioned to work alongside a user’s primary smartphone. Through its compact design, modular ecosystem and connected AI services, iKKO is seeking a profitable niche within a crowded market. Its approach offers one example of how hardware brands can pursue growth through a more specific role in users’ daily lives.
